Sweet Revenge: Shakira Fights Back After Piqué Cheating Scandal (VIDEO)

Shakira may have suffered a breakup but she wasn't about to let it break her.

Columbia pop megastar Shakira went from shaking her hips to shaking up the world when news broke that her 11-year relationship with Spanish soccer star, Gerard Piqué, had ended.

The couple announced the split in June 2022 in a joint statement asking for privacy for the sake of their two sons, Sasha and Milan.

However, privacy was the last thing they received. Amid a flurry of tabloid headlines, accusations of Piqué's alleged infidelities flew, and one of the biggest cheating scandals of the decade erupted.

The Cheating Scandal That Rocked The World

The two first met 12 years ago when the footballer featured in the music video for Shakira’s song “Waka Waka,” the official song of the 2010 FIFA World Cup.

They quickly fell in love with Shakira boldly declaring that he was the "one" and Piqué echoing the statement, calling her "the love of my life." And for years, this seemed to be true. They built a life together, had two children, and weathered a frightening health scare before it all came crumbling down.

In a vulnerably candid interview with &lt;em&gt;&lt;a href="https://www.elle.com/culture/celebrities/a41296977/shakira-elle-digital-cover-october-2022/" rel="noreferrer noopener" target="_blank"&gt;Elle&lt;/a&gt;&lt;/em&gt;, Shakira shared: "In this moment of my life, which is probably one of the most difficult, darkest hours of my life, music has brought light."&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;It also brought a record-breaking smash hit blasting her cheating ex. &lt;em&gt;Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned&lt;/em&gt;.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;The juicy diss track, entitled "BZRP Music Session #53," dropped on January 11 and immediately went viral, racking up an impressive 63 million YouTube views in just 24 hours, becoming the most-watched Latin debut song in the platform's history.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;It also made Spotify history as the most-streamed Latin track in a single day.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;And its popularity just keeps increasing. As of today, it's been viewed a whopping 324M times. But is it any wonder? With lyrics like “&lt;em&gt;I’m worth two 22-year-olds&lt;/em&gt;," and "&lt;em&gt;You traded in a Ferrari for a Twingo / You traded in a Rolex for a Casio&lt;/em&gt;,” it's blatantly obvious who it's targeting and it is glorious in its scathing revenge. &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;But more than that, it also just so happens to be the inspiring anthem anyone who has ever experienced a breakup needs to hear.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Because Shakira's overarching message is clear: there may have been a breakup but it didn't break her. I mean, one of the two of us had to make a sacrifice, right?
