Struggling Parents Work Overtime to Provide for Kids - Their Son Blindfolds and Leaves Them Speechless for This Reason

One of the most important goals of parenting is achieving enough success to give your children a better life than you had. Often, parents have to work very hard in order to reach that goal. Many immigrant families have a similar story: Parents who work multiple jobs, finding overtime wherever they can, in order to give their children everything they need in order to thrive.

For some lucky parents, their children achieve so much success that they are able to give their parents a better life. Recently, this was the case for one young man and his parents. 

The Immense Sacrifices One Immigrant Family Made

Social media star LeJuan James, who boasts more than 2.5 million followers on Instagram, comes from a family of immigrants and shares a familiar story. His parents moved to the United States with very little money to their names, but were determined to make a good life for themselves and their family.

They worked hard, often doing night shifts and working overtime. As a child, LeJuan and his siblings never knew that his family sometimes struggled to make ends meet -- they were always given everything they needed.

When you’re young and naive, you don’t understand how hard your parents are working. My parents would bust their tail working overnights, working multiple shifts and they’d alternate to take care of us, it was three of us. And you don’t really understand until you’re a little older, then you understand the concept of money and how hard it is to get it and how easy it is to spend it.

The Surprise Social Media Star LeJuan James Had for His Parents

As an adult, LeJuan was able to see and understand just how hard his parents had worked to provide for the family. They never made him or his siblings feel bad or guilty -- they made hard work and sacrifice look easy. When LeJuan’s social media success really took off, he decided the first thing he would do with his money would be to give back to his parents in a spectacular way. He would also capture the whole surprise for social media, of course!

He blindfolded his parents and led them to the gift -- a full renovated, two storey house he purchased for them! He led his parents up the walkway and had them take off their blindfolds. When they saw what LeJuan had done for them, his parents were speechless at first, but then they were overcome with emotion. The family broke down in tears together, grateful for each other and everything they were able to accomplish and give to each other. 

How One Man Proves the Importance of Appreciating People

LeJuan’s video earned over 2 million views on YouTube. Comments congratulating the young man on his generous spirit and family values filled the comments section.

“You know it’s hard for us kids sometimes to express how much we love our parents, even though they know it. It’s hard actually verbally to come out and say it. It’s not like something that you constantly do. It was such a genuine moment because it was just me pouring my heart out and telling them in that particular time, ‘This is me trying to repay you guys for being the wonderful parents that you are,'” he said.

LeJuan doesn’t need all of the social media fanfare, though. Just getting the opportunity to give back and reflect on how much his parents had impacted his life was reward enough for him.
